MCAT

So the MCAT is coming up this Saturday. It's kind of amusing that the US medical colleges think that one test is tantamount to your ability to become a doctor, but then again, it's not really all that amusing if you're the one taking it. The test itself is basically four final exams rolled into one: physics, chemistry, biology, organic chemistry. They're not really final exam-type questions either, where you simply have to do a couple problems or something. Oh no. That would be too easy. Instead, you have to read a passage related to some topic that would most likely appear in graduate school related to whatever field it was appropriate towards, and then you have to use your marginal knowledge of basic sciences to answer the questions. Tack on a Verbal Reasoning section, where you have to read some of the most boring crap ever, and then answer some questions which are often loosely related to the subject at hand (If someone said, "I'm going to inject my balls with Botox, and get egg-shell smooth balls", with which of the following phrases would the author most likely respond?), and then add an essay section, and you have the MCAT.

So far in my practice tests, I've been kicking the crap out of the VR section, but sucking at the physics section, and consistently getting double digits in the bio section. Basically, if I could get my physics score to go up 2-3 points, I'd be at my goal of 36. Right now I'm just hovering around the 32-34 range. So this whole week I'm basically going to be doing nothing but studying physics/chemistry and maybe some bio. Literally. I am not going to school at all. Just working away on MCAT stuff for as long as I can stay up every day, then repeat the process again.

Fun.

At least when I'm done with this evil test, I'm going to enjoy some Cognac and some fine Champagne.
